Men's Programme

The need to develop activities with rural men has been identified by the research carried out into the needs of single rural men in North Leitrim by the North Leitrim Men’s Group - Community Connections supported the North Leitrim Men’s Group in carrying out this research. (See the 'Resources and Links' page to access a copy of the report). The work with single rural men will be prioritised in the Men’s Programme over the period of the plan.  The need for a programme with the general male population including the promotion of the role of fathers was identified through local informal consultation and with the County Childcare Committees in Cavan and Leitrim.

Aim – To promote understanding of and to meet the more isolated men and promote their involvement in community life; to facilitate the greater involvement of the male population in community life generally; to promote the role of fathers in family life.
